Alex Gordon is an exciting platformer game developed by Free Ride Games that will remind you of the famous Indiana Jones. Adventure awaits you as go searching for the missing pieces of an ancient amulet. Get ready for lots of jumping and running!
The game starts with a short animation showing Alex Gordon and his equally adventurous sister finding a mysterious amulet inside the cave. Apparently, the ancient gods of the island are displeased and therefore they scattered the pieces of the amulet. Alex Gordon’s sister has also been abducted and will only be returned once you find all the amulet’s parts again. The objective of the game is no different from that of other platformers. It is another rescue mission that will require you to surpass challenging obstacles in each stage. Even so, you will still find this game interesting and exciting. Aside from jumping on ledges, you will also get to swim underwater and hang on dangling ropes. There are also other game characters you will meet along the way. Some of them are friendly and will give you guidance on your adventure while some are your enemies. There is nothing to fear about them because they easily defeated. All you need to do is stomp over their heads. If you touch them, you will lose a life so be very careful.
You should also remember to gather as many coins as you can and to watch out for gold stars. The coins you collect will determine your score for each level while the stars will open bonus paths in the games. Aside from that, other gold treasure can be found in the game like diamonds and gold crowns. Be on the lookout for hearts as well, especially when you lost a life. The game is pretty generous when it comes to lives and when you ever lose one, you can easily replace it if you find a heart. They are scattered throughout the course so just keep an eye out for them.
Alex Gordon’s graphics are a bit old school but they are neat and smooth. The island setting also reflects on the background of the game and its other elements. As I have mentioned, you will be reminded of Indiana Jones as you play. Alex Gordon’s character design makes him look like a real explorer cat who has seen many parts of the world. While there are improvements that can be considered to make it better, the game is able to deliver what is expected from a 2D platformer game.
The game has over 50 challenging levels but they are not frustratingly difficult, which lets you really enjoy the game. Alex Gordon is one of those classic platformer games you do not have to stress about. The obstacles have the right amount of difficulty in them that will still leave you feeling accomplished after you complete a level.
