Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution is a simulation game that lets you experience the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe. In this game, players can relive the iconic duels from each series, starting from the original story through Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V. There are also over 10,000 cards from the earliest iteration of the game to the latest expansion that you can collect to build and customize your decks. With more than 20 years of history to draw from, the archives of this game are quite staggering.
What fans of the anime series will love about this game is that it is very faithful to the TV shows, and the same authenticity extends to its very sizable campaigns. As noted, it features every story of the series and even added the virtual world of Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS. It has six chapters that cover all major story beats and includes some of the biggest and most memorable battles. Each chapter has around 25-30 battles each, so you will have hours of nostalgic fun.
However, while it features everything in the series, that doesn’t mean that you have to play them in chronological order. You can choose which series you want to jump ahead without needing to complete the previous story. However, you cannot skip to the next battle without beating your previous opponent. If you are not familiar with how the duels go, the first match in every series is a tutorial. It comes with predetermined cards, which you and your opponent will choose. It then walks you through the duel and explains the rules that you need to know.
By participating in the duels, you can win Duel Points, which you can use to redeem new cards. You can then collect these new cards to customize your decks. Aside from card collection, Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution also doubles your fun as it allows you to play as the villain in reverse duels. By doing so, you can replay the entire game with an entirely-different deck of cards and a new strategy.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution is the perfect way for fans to relive the popular card battle anime series. It does an incredible job of recreating the experience and taking the players through the entire show’s storylines. There are lots of things to do in the game, with over 150 battles and more than 10,000 cards to collect. It has a few problems here and there—the delays between actions and the randomness of card deliveries—but it is something you can look over. All in all, this game ranks as one of the best collectible card games that you can play.
