Stranded: Alien Dawn is a premium strategy game from Haemimont Games and Frontier Foundry. This simulates the conditions of an alien planet, tasking the players to thrive in a mix of survival and base-building elements. You are in charge of a handful of survivors who will gather materials and create a human stronghold.

Beyond its breathtaking 3D visuals, Stranded: Alien Dawn presents different challenges for the player. Find the optimal base layout, gather and manage resources, and keep your survivors happy and healthy. It feels like a cross between Astroneer and Dyson Sphere Program.

The developers of Stranded: Alien Down have spent a significant amount of time in the design of the environment itself. Unique backgrounds, strange creatures, and immersive sound effects should all help to create a realistic experience for the end user.

Resource farming

Players will need to initially spend a fair amount of time gathering important resources and setting up their base camp. It is also necessary to hunt for food and grow crops in order to ensure long-term survival.

Responding to unexpected events

While this game can be considered a tower defense SIM to an extent, it also involves how the player responds to unique events, such as sudden weather changes and forest fires. The expansive nature of the planet helps ensure that challenging surprises are never far off.

Meet the robots and the guardians

As the alien world reveals itself to the player, more factions come to light. With the Robots and Guardians DLC, players meet a rebel faction of artificial lifeforms rescued by the galaxy’s first sentient android. Automate processes and develop larger and stronger machines as you defend your base from attacking robot enemies. This means new buildings, technologies, and defensive strategies made available to the player.

Aside from the premium DLC, existing players are treated to a free update that contains its own set of content, from gameplay changes to additional recipes. A major addition in this patch is the Delivery Drone, an automated companion designed to haul and deliver resources across your headquarters. Even better, you can now say goodbye to your bungalows and shift to multistory buildings.

Thinking outside of the box

Although some elements of Stranded: Alien Dawn are similar to classic tower defense platforms, such as Stronghold Kingdoms, the strategic nature of this game provides a nice twist. From salvaging fallen space debris to hunting down dangerous predators and ensuring that the survivors remain healthy, players should enjoy the multifaceted nature of Stranded: Alien Dawn.
