Coral Island is a premium simulation title for PC by developer Stairway Games. It is a farming simulator game wherein players will build and grow a vibrant and sprawling farm on a small island. They will also be able to connect with the native residents and personalities.
Similar to Stardew Valley or One Lonely Outpost, Coral Island lets players assume the role of the new resident in town looking to have a fresh start for themselves and build their dream farm. They will also have the chance to fix up a coral reef to revitalize the island's life and economy.
In Coral Island, you leave your hometown of Pokyo behind to move to said island with dreams of owning a farm. Here, you can turn rundown land into a lush and vibrant place filled with a variety of crops and animals. This tropical destination also features a coral reef, and it's your mission to restore it to its former glory and breathe new marine life into it.
Of course, that's not all you can do in this farming sim game as you'll also be able to socialize and get to know the locals. There are over 50 islanders to meet, each with their own stories to tell. You can even find that special someone from among the 16 singles in town, allowing you to form a relationship and build a life together at your farm.
What's more, you can do other activities, such as exploring forgotten caverns for hidden gemstones and participating in community projects to help revitalize the town. It also boasts a character customization system that allows you to:
With the recent launch of Coral Island’s spring update, you’ll get to:
While this is not an exhaustive list of new content, Stairway Games has also introduced a plethora of quality-of-life changes, and here are a few examples:
Although the game has improved a lot, a periodic auto-save system still has not been added. It should be implemented to prevent players from losing their progress.
Coral Island’s newest development update introduces new features and characters, focusing on the Merfolk Kingdom and underwater gameplay. Four new Merfolk townies include Rysy, a dedicated tattoo artist; Slamet, an enthusiastic rancher; Jannu, a tavern owner; and Tahat, a loyal senior guard. Each character brings unique interactions and storylines, enhancing the player's experience. Players can now also build relationships and even pursue romantic interests with the Merfolk, adding depth to the social aspect of the game.
This update also expands gameplay with underwater farming and ranching. Players can unlock underwater farming by progressing through the game, allowing them to mix land crops to create new underwater seed varieties. The Lumina Wand is introduced to provide light for these crops. Additionally, underwater ranching features five new animals—Mermoo, Inkhog, Shellcluck, Carapoultry, and Seashroud—each offering unique products for the player to sell.
Further improvements found in this patch include new decor options for underwater environments, enhancements to the decor system, and the addition of NPC speech bubbles to enhance character interactions. The update also teases the addition of multiplayer functionality. These enhancements aim to enrich the gameplay experience, making this simulation game even more immersive and engaging for players. Additionally, the game’s 1.1 beta has launched, so players can look forward to more updates soon.
There's something about farming sim games that make them such quaint and charming titles that any gamer can enjoy. Coral Island is no different in that regard. From dating singles to exploring unknown locations, this is an addictive game you'll have fun playing for days on end. While it doesn't do anything revolutionary, it takes the best parts of the genre and refines them further to provide a polished and beautiful experience.
