Desktop Facebook is a free app that allows you to log onto Facebook without even opening a web browser. This not only makes logging in quicker and easier but reduces the number of tabs you need open if you do have your browser open at the same time. Desktop Facebook is also very discreet. It simply features an icon in your menu bar to indicate when you are logged on.

Desktop Facebook signs in as soon as you log onto your Mac although you can deactivate this if you want. The only slight downside is that you have to click on the menu item to log onto Desktop Facebook - the Dock icon does absolutely nothing. There are also very few configuration options and you can't access any privacy features using Desktop Facebook.
