Developed by Bubblegum Games, this match-3 game lets you give different types of makeovers to different characters—from makeup and clothes to interior design. It also features your story as a makeover specialist on their way to becoming a master of the fashion world.

Your clients are the stars

In this game, you play as the new director of the show “Project Makeover,” where makeup artists, hairstylists, and fashion consultants work together to give people glamorous glow-ups. The crew had recently fired Greta Von Deta, their mean-spirited bully of a director, due to conflicting moral interests and now you must step up to save the show. Fortunately, the game rolls out its easy tutorial with the help of your fashion experts, Gigi, Francis, and Derek.

The show operates with a three-part makeover plan: new hairstyle and makeup, a new outfit, and a new comfy-looking space for the featured guest’s home. You will need to complete specific tasks by paying for them with coins. You can earn these and cash by completing match-3 levels. The mechanics are your standard tile-matching gameplay—with power-ups and special blocks you need to clear—but there are also unique tricks here that other similar games don’t have. 

Aside from giving clients makeovers, you can give your own avatar one, too, by buying similar items with your cash. You will also unlock parts of the unfolding storyline as a bonus. However, the main issue with this game is that its difficulty scales the more clients you work on. There are no annoying ads but you’ll get more and more tasks to pay for—which means more match-3 levels to complete in under a few moves only.

Fashion is a serious business

All in all, Project Makeover is a great casual play to play at whatever pace you prefer. However, it can get pretty hard after a while and you may find yourself stuck, needing currency that the game offers as an in-app purchase. However, the game’s easy interface and cute 3D graphics still make for a fun experience so if you’re the type to find match-3 gameplay an interesting challenge, then this is a recommended title to try out.
