Micro Survivor is a free survival adventure game. As well as media like Disney's 'A Bug's Life,' the app clearly takes inspiration from other video games in this genre, including Grounded and Project Zomboid.
The basic premise of the game, which is played from a third-person perspective, sees the player's character awakened to find that they have become the size of an ant. It then places them right at the bottom of the food chain, forcing them to develop various survival skills in order to fend off threats, such as spiders and other predators.
In order to actually survive in this new, ant-sized reality, the player character must gather resources to survive and develop relationships with other characters that are able to provide support and assistance. Resources can be used to craft tools, which then lead to new survival skills being learned.
For example, the player can collect resources like twigs or pebbles early in the game and use these to create an axe. Once the axe has been created, the player character will have the ability to cut down blades of grass and other parts of the environment around them.
Micro Survivor provides some entertaining boss encounters, especially against large and threatening creatures. However, much of the game follows a set pattern, with the player completing specific objectives. This, combined with the fairly basic survival mechanics, may limit the sense of freedom the player has.
The obvious comparison to Micro Survivor is Obsidian Entertainment's Grounded, which provides a more in-depth, well-rounded experience. Nevertheless, Micro Survivor serves as an enjoyable mobile experience and will provide many of the same thrills.
Micro Survivor takes clear inspiration from Grounded and brings the premise into the mobile sphere. It is an enjoyable survival adventure game focused on resource gathering, survival skills, and relationship building.
